Top-Level Appointments At ANZ

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group has appointed a chief investment officer for its Australian wealth management arm and a chief information security officer. 

The bank has appointed Mark Rider as chief investment officer for wealth Australia, effective from 10 March, it said yesterday. Rider has been at the lender since 2013, when he joined as head of investment strategy and asset allocation. Previously, he spent 16 years at UBS in senior economics and global asset management roles. Before that, he spent 10 years at the Reserve Bank of Australia as an economist.

Rider succeeds Stewart Brentnall, who is leaving ANZ to take up another senior CIO opportunity in the Australian industry, ANZ said. 

Separately, the bank has appointed Lynwen Connick as its chief information security officer, reporting to group executive for technology Gerard Florian. Connick joins from the Australian government, where she delivered the new national cybersecurity strategy in the department of the prime minister and cabinet, ANZ said.  

Prior to this she was chief information security officer for the Department of Defence following a 25-year career with the Australian Signals Directorate, most recently serving as deputy director and first assistant secretary capability.

In her new role, Connick will be responsible for ensuring ANZ’s information security strategy fits with the changing technology landscape and supports the bank’s digital transformation.

Connick starts at the bank on 14 March.
